This book pulled me in gently and had me fall in love with the main character Dave with all of his seemingly unforgivable failings. Then the tension built and I was completely hooked. The wife of Dave seems cold and not someone I could relate to at first but when you learn more about her you realize she just knows that he is so much better than he feels that he is.The series is exceptionally well divided into the 3 separate books, breaking of in a natural feeling way. I really do like this author's styly and hope there are more similar style books in the future. I say similar because I seem to have developed this apocalyptic addiction. I would never have thought that this would be my preference but it is!
You really will enjoy this series so I hope you hurry and get started with the first book.

This is book three in this fantastic series, and I just have to say that it held up brilliantly in relation to the first two books, which also garnered five-star reviews from me. The superb character development throughout the series of the protagonist, Dave Pulaski, is just one of the elements that made this third book as engrossing as the first two. The significant damage caused through mutation and experimentation is winding down in Tres Marias, California. Now it is time for revenge. The stakes are at an all-time high as Pulaski leaves Tres Marias and heads for Los Angeles to kill the person he holds responsible for an experiment that went terribly wrong and resulted in horrifying human carnage. His personal loss drives him to do what was before absolutely unthinkable. But in LA, the scientifically-engineered victims-turned-zombies are even more dangerous and vicious, as they flay their victims while they are still alive. Dave is willing to stop at nothing to exact revenge on the man who unleashed it all. But when he meets just-escaped Sasha, a Russian woman who has been subjected to terrorizing experiments, he finds a greater purpose that he is willing to die for, without fear.
The action in all three books is non-stop. The pacing is perfect. The descriptive gore is enough to frighten the hell out of you, without repelling you. Most of all, the author is an exceptional writer who was able to keep all three books at the same level of excellence in terms of editing and story telling. I can see this book trilogy as a great TV series, like 11 23 63 (the Stephen King book.) Note I likened the author's writing skills and story-telling ability to Stephen King's in my first review. An exceptional author who has written a gripping horror trilogy.
I read all three books in this series and loved them. A great story, a great idea, and great characters. I will read more by this author.
I absolutely loved this trilogy. The characters were very engaging. The plot was flawless and well-imagined. I laughed, was shocked, was scared, and I even cried. This book finished out the series perfectly, though I am longing to hear more from Dave Pulaski. This review is coming from a fellow writer!! Please give us some more great stories!
This series could not have come to a better conclusion! Mr Ramirez's character development of the protagonist, Dave Pulaski was amazing. At times throughout this book I actually felt as if I were there beside him in his struggle to overcome the Evil presented by the project but also overcoming his own Demons which have followed him throughout the entire series and bringing them both to successful conclusions. Definitely a six out of five stars.
Ramirez does a great job giving us enough of the back story so that if you haven’t picked up his other books or if it’s been too long since you read them, that a new reader won’t be lost. He gives Dave strong supporting characters who make the story well rounded and dense. One of the truly fun things about this book is that you can tell that Ramirez loves movies and music. He effortlessly weaves these passions into his gifted story telling of Dave and his revenge quest. So along with that fundamental feeling of the zombies lurking behind you that carries the reader through the book at a quicker and quicker pace, you have a movie score to help push you further into this version of Los Angeles. As a thriller/horror novel Ramirez does not shy away from the cringe-worthy violence and butchering of humans that any good Zombie horror movie would have.

What a great book! Book 1 starts with zombies. Undead. Book 2 gives you undead and something more than undead. Book 3? Cutters! If this stuff were real not many of us would survive, no matter how much you think you can survive a zombie apocalypse! Seriously! Freaky stuff.
Anyway this was a great read. A great series and definitely will not be the end to my reading Mr. Ramirez's work. I loved the characters, the way that the story flowed and simply everything about the books.
If you love zombies, post apocalyptic type books and freakiness then consider reading this series.
