The solar eclipse.
For many it was a natural spectacle, a beautiful quirk of astronomy.
For Ella, it was one last chance to save her daughter.

When Kate leaves home to go to university, she is recruited by a secretive organisation and severs all links to her family. Ella, her mother, tries desperately to win her back. Eventually she turns to Noah, an anti-cult campaigner. Together they face up to an organisation prepared to do anything to protect itself, as it moves inexorably towards one final, cataclysmic event.

An exploration of faith and redemption, Into the Eclipse follows the paths of several very different lives as they intersect during a solar eclipse.

I enjoyed this story a lot. I have been a reader of the author's blog "Siren Voices" for quite some time and could tell from the posts there that he is a very descriptive writer. This book certainly drew on those skills.

I am a fast reader and rely on good descriptive skills in an author's writing to build up a picture of the story in my mind. Kennedy's writing style makes this very easy to do. I read the story over the course of a few days, with interruptions, and was always eager to get back to the story and find out what was going to happen next.

It was a little difficult to keep track of all the different characters as they were introduced in the first half of the book, and at first I didn't see the connection between some of them. But the various threads were drawn together cleverly and naturally and it was an interesting view of how this sort of thing can work in real life - sometimes it's all about networking and who you know when you need to get something done!

When the book ended I was momentarily disappointed. I wanted to see what was going to happen next. I was left wanting more! I'll be keeping an eye out for future work by this author. Recommended.

this story is about a young lady who gets convinced to join a cult, and the trouble her mother goes through to get her out of the cult. The book was a good read from start to finish.
I liked the book, found the story compelling, and was particularly fond of Ella, the mother of the main character. The book opens a bit shockingly (at least for me) with a cult related scenario and then jumps forward in time to focus on young woman from a later generation getting sucked into a cult herself. It is her mother, Ella, that risks her job, personal life and ultimately, her physical safety in an attempt to help her daughter break free of the cult. The author, Spence Kennedy, does his usual outstanding job of setting scenes and describing people - his attention to detail really makes the scenes real to the reader. The book builds towards an exciting finish - I really didn't know how it was all going to turn out until I finished the book.

I not only recommend this book, but also his previous book, "Frank's Last Call", based on his own experiences in the ambulance service in the UK.
This is the most difficult book I have TIRED to read. The story idea is a
good one, but the structure of the story is so bad. I struggled til about
16% and almost ended there, but I re-read the summary and started
over again. At 51% I quit; to read a book should not be such a struggle.
A couple of problems for me were the transitions between time, between
charactors and between scenes was not smooth or clear. They are very confusing.
